Mobile internet in Anguilla

Digicel provides island-wide 4G/LTE coverage on Anguilla; the signal can be weaker on remote stretches of beach. Wi-Fi in hotels and cafés is often slow or unreliable.

With an eSIM you're online from the moment you land, without having to buy a local SIM card – ideal for navigation, restaurant bookings and sharing beach photos.

Highlights in Anguilla

Shoal Bay

Often cited as one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, with turquoise water, fine white sand and good snorkelling at the eastern end.

Rendezvous Bay

A long, quiet beach with views of St Martin – ideal for walks and sunsets.

Sandy Island

A tiny cay offshore, reachable by boat, with a beach bar and snorkel reef – perfect for a day trip.

The Valley

The main town, with the historic Wallblake House, a small heritage museum and local restaurants; good for a rainy day or a culture trip.

Practical travel tips

  • A hire car is worth it for exploring the beaches flexibly. Remember to drive on the left and check the licence requirements in advance.
  • US dollars are accepted almost everywhere, though change is often given in East Caribbean dollars (XCD). Small amounts in cash are handy.
  • Tap water isn't drinkable everywhere; stick to bottled water in restaurants and ask at your accommodation.
  • The best time to travel is from December to April. During hurricane season (June to November) storms can occur.

Do’s

  • Take things at a relaxed pace and greet people warmly – the island thrives on its laid-back vibe.
  • Use reef-friendly sunscreen to protect corals and marine life.
  • Allow enough time for moving between beaches – distances are short but the roads are narrow in places.
  • Try local BBQ stands and fish dishes, such as grilled lobster in season.

Don’ts

  • Don't leave valuables unattended on the beach, even though the island feels safe.
  • Don't take shells, coral or sand home as souvenirs – it harms the ecosystem.
  • Don't underestimate the infrastructure: petrol stations and supermarkets aren't everywhere, so fill up in good time.
  • Don't drive too fast and take care on unpaved roads, especially after rain.

Anguilla eSIM – frequently asked questions

Which Anguilla eSIM plan do I need?

That depends on how much data you use: for navigation, messaging and occasional browsing 1–3 GB per week is usually enough; for social media, video calls or hotspot rather 5 GB or more. The plans cost between €6.99 and €22.99.

When does the validity of my eSIM start?

Validity only starts when the eSIM connects to a network at your destination for the first time. So you can safely install it before your trip.

Will my normal phone number stay reachable?

Yes. This is a data-only eSIM installed in addition to your SIM card. Calls and SMS still use your normal number – mind your provider’s roaming prices.

Does the eSIM work with my phone?

Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. This includes all iPhones from XS/XR, Samsung Galaxy from S20 and Google Pixel from 3. See “Compatible devices” for the full list.

How do I set up the eSIM?

After purchase you receive a QR code by email. Scan it in your phone’s mobile network settings, select the eSIM for mobile data and switch on data roaming for the eSIM at your destination.

Do I need to set an APN?

No. The access point (APN) is set automatically for all Anguilla eSIM plans.
